It is not a game that is intended to be taken seriously. It simply seeks to shock and provoke laughter with it's oft unbelievable and over-the-top combination of innocent ignorance and vicious gore. This game is not an attempt to mock or emulate another series, nor is it devaluing or attacking anything about any other game or any film. It's a Suda51 game, so there is definitely a suspension of taste involved. Assuming you are expecting a hilarious satirical stab at zombie-fan culture. Lollipop Chainsaw stars Juliet Starling, as she fights off zombies during a zombie apocalypse while carrying around the (still living) decapitated head of her boyfriend. The game quickly got a cult following since its release, but the lack of a PC release and the march of time has largely left the game in obscurity. Originally developed by Suda51’s studio Grasshopper Manufacture, Lollipop Chainsaw‘s development also saw the involvement of the at the time obscure film director James Gunn. Reviews of the game ( including ours) praised its surreal tone and satire, while at the same time criticising its otherwise shallow gameplay and short length. Originally released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Lollipop Chainsaw came out to polarising reviews. Currently, there’s no announced release date, or even details about whether Lollipop Chainsaw‘s return entails a remaster or remake of some sort. Announced over Twitter, development for Lollipop Chainsaw is being handled by Dragami Games. A decade after its original release, Lollipop Chainsaw is set to return.
